Epitalon Peptide
Epitalon Peptide
Epitalon, also known as Epithalon or Epithalone, is a tetrapeptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG), which was synthesized based on the amino acids composition of Epithalamin, a bovine pineal gland extract, prior to its discovery in pineal gland polypeptide complex solution. During the last 25 years, this compound has been extensively studied using in vitro, in vivo, and in silico methods. The results of these studies indicate significant geroprotective and neuroendocrine effects of Epitalone, resulting from its antioxidant, neuro-protective, and antimutagenic effects, originating from both specific and nonspecific mechanisms. Although it has been demonstrated that Epitalon exerts, among other effects, a direct influence on melatonin synthesis, alters the mRNA levels of interleukin-2, modulates the mitogenic activity of murine thymocytes, and enhances the activity of various enzymes, including AChE, BuChE, and telomerase, it remains uncertain whether these are the sole mechanisms of action of this compound. Moreover, despite the considerable volume of research on the biological and pharmacodynamic characteristics of Epitalon, the quantity of physico-chemical and structural investigations of this peptide remains quite limited.

Epitalon, also known as Epithalon, is a synthetic tetrapeptide consisting of four amino acids: Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). It has been studied primarily in connection with healthy aging, pineal-gland function, melatonin regulation, cellular aging, and telomere biology.

Epitalon Peptide Therapy FAQ
1. What is Epitalon peptide?
Epitalon, also called Epithalon, is a synthetic tetrapeptide composed of four amino acids: alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid and glycine. It has been investigated primarily in connection with cellular aging, telomere biology, telomerase activity, circadian function and longevity research. Epitalon is sometimes marketed as an anti-aging or longevity peptide
2. What are the benefits of Epitalon peptide?
Potential areas of interest include healthy aging, telomere and telomerase research, cellular longevity, circadian rhythm and sleep-related research.
3. How does Epitalon work?
Epitalon has been studied for its potential effects on telomerase activity, telomere biology, gene expression and cellular aging pathways.
Research in human cell cultures has reported increased telomerase activity and telomere elongation following exposure to Epitalon.
4. Does Epitalon increase telomerase?
Research suggests that Epitalon can increase telomerase activity in certain human cell cultures. A published study reported induction of telomerase activity and telomere elongation in human somatic cells. This is one of the primary reasons Epitalon has attracted interest in longevity research.
5. Does Epitalon increase telomere length?
Some laboratory research has reported increased telomere length following Epitalon exposure. More recent research has continued investigating the mechanisms involved, including telomerase and alternative lengthening of telomeres.
6. Can Epitalon slow aging?
Epitalon is frequently described online as an anti-aging or longevity peptide, but there is currently insufficient human clinical evidence to establish that Epitalon slows or reverses biological aging. The scientific interest comes from research involving telomeres, telomerase, cellular aging and other biological mechanisms.
7. Does Epitalon help with sleep?
Epitalon has been investigated in connection with sleep and circadian biology, which is one reason it is sometimes marketed as a sleep-support peptide.
8. Does Epitalon regulate melatonin?
Epitalon has been discussed in research involving pineal function, melatonin and circadian biology. This has contributed to its popularity in longevity and sleep-related peptide discussions.
9. Is Epitalon an anti-aging peptide?
Epitalon is commonly classified as an investigational anti-aging or longevity peptide. Its research interest comes from potential effects on telomere biology, telomerase, cellular aging and gene regulation.
10. What is Epitalon made of?
Epitalon is a four-amino-acid peptide: Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). The FDA's Substance Registration System identifies Epitalon and the ALA-GLU-ASP-GLY sequence among its substance information.
11. Is Epitalon the same as Epithalon?
Yes. Epitalon and Epithalon are names used for the same tetrapeptide. You may see both spellings in scientific literature, peptide websites and search results.
12. Is Epitalon FDA approved?
No. Epitalon is not an FDA-approved drug. FDA also states that compounded drugs themselves are not FDA-approved.
13. Is Epitalon safe?
Short-term tolerability: Clinical and research reports describe Epitalon as generally well tolerated with mild, infrequent side effects. Common mild effects: These include temporary injection-site reactions, mild headaches, drowsiness, or vivid dreams.
14. Is Epitalon a hormone?
No. Epitalon is a peptide, not a hormone. It is a short chain of four amino acids that has been investigated for its potential effects on cellular and biological signaling.
15. Is Epitalon a growth hormone?
No. Epitalon is not human growth hormone and does not work as a growth hormone replacement therapy. It belongs to a completely different category of biological compounds.
